With profound sadness, the family of Wayne Robison announces his death on June 30, 2017 at home, from cancer. Wayne is survived by his wife and best friend of 50 years, Sheila Robison (nee Ashfield) and their daughters Jennifer Robison; Victoria Peters (Galen); Jill Robison (Michael Atkinson). He will be greatly missed and forever remembered by his grandchildren Noah and Ava Peters, and Harry and Elizabeth Atkinson. Grampie was never too busy to indulge them in anything. Wayne is also survived by his sisters Brenda Tingley (Richard); Susan Cox (Rodney); Nancy Robison (Michael Jardine); sister-in-law Carol Loughrey (Ronald), as well as eight nieces and one nephew and their families. Predeceased by his parents Edwin and Jean Robison, and his nephew Stephen Jardine. Fondly known as “Chuck/Doc/Wayne” he was born in Fredericton, NB, the eldest child of Edwin and Jean Robison (nee Bull). In his youth, Wayne was fortunate to spend his summers on his Uncle Gilbert Robison’s farm in Harvey Station, NB. It was at Campburn Farm where he developed a passion for farm life and enjoyed his Aunt Ruth Robison’s warm hospitality and chocolate chip cookies. Campburn’s prize-winning Jersey herd, the Clydesdale horses and the menagerie of dogs and cats, in addition to the companionship of his Robison cousins motivated him to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. He met Sheila at Fredericton High School and they were married in 1967. He graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College at the University of Guelph in 1968 and began practicing in Smiths Falls, Ontario. In 1970, he and Sheila moved to Napanee, ON where he became an owner of the Napanee Veterinary Hospital. Their three daughters were born in Napanee and together Wayne and Sheila worked at the practice until their retirement in 2007. Wayne lived his life with optimism and a good-natured outlook. He loved capturing the beauty of life and was a skilled photographer, a trait which was passed on to his three daughters. His love of gadgets was legendary with family and friends, and his depth of knowledge for technical and computer problems was sought after by many. Wayne was a life-long learner and always ready to acquire a new skill. Learning to scuba dive at 68 years old was the norm! His ’69 Road Runner was his “baby” and a boyhood dream fulfilled. Ava and Elizabeth stole Grampie’s heart while Noah and Harry were his buddies. He always thought the best of everyone; he loved the water, the land, and all creatures great and small. A life well-lived is something we all wish for and Wayne certainly achieved that. Wayne’s family would like to express gratitude to his health care team for their clinical expertise and compassion. Friends are invited to join Wayne’s family for visitation at the HANNAH FUNERAL HOME in Napanee at 123 Dundas Street West (613-354-3341) on Friday, July 7 between 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A Celebration of His Life will be held in the Chapel on Saturday, July 8 at 1:00 p.m. with reception to follow. Donations in Wayne's memory (by cheque please) may be made to the Sandy Pines Wildlife Centre (www.sandypineswildlife.org) or Hospice Lennox & Addington (www.landahospice.ca).
