I'm so sorry to hear of Ed's death. I'm one of the many folks from parks and MNR who worked with Ed over many years. (I was one of those office types.) I always enjoyed working with him: he was a real gentleman. I appreciated his good humour and his practical wisdom.
I hope you find joy in remembering all the good times you shared with Ed.

I am so sorry to hear of Ed’s passing. He was Superintendent at Bon Echo for the 10 years I was NHE Leader. It was a great time in my life and he helped make it so. Ed trusted in my abilities and supported my ideas and I thrived under his leadership. I remember him fondly and am so grateful he was Superintendent during my tenure at the Park.

Sue, Marcy and Bobby - Jim & I are so incredibly sorry to hear of Ed's passing and we are thinking of you all at this incredibly difficult time. So many memories - from popping over with Marcy for school lunches when we were in grade school, to getting in trouble from Ed while camping at Bon Echo as teens when we were being too loud ;)

Thinking of the entire family. Ed was such a good man. He doctored me up when I had a bike accident, and didn't tell my parents ( I was out alone & would have been in huge trouble), but told me to have respect for their rules, and listen to them. That left a big impact on me at a young age. He was also generous with my younger siblings and would share hunting tips, and his views on how to be respectful of the land around us. One time he came across us kids in the woods off the hydro line. We were cutting down small saplings to build a "fort"... He asked us to quit, and told us his reasoning, but after he left, we just complained about him wrecking our fun. Half an hour later he came back . To "check" on things. We sure changed our mind about him! He gave us a ride back to my folks land, and left us with a roll of rope, a huge camp tarp, some older corded foldout tent poles, a flashlight, a whistle, a small first aid kit, some metal tent pegs, a bag of venison jerky, and a pack of gum. He was a hero !
He was such a good man. He will be sadly missed by many.

I worked for and later owned Francis L. Manion Ltd. and did a lot of work in Bon Echo Park for Ed when he was Park Superintendent . We built many of the roads and installed the septic systems at Hardwood Hill. Also I graded the park roads and always had a lot of respect for and enjoyed working with Ed. Please accept my condolences and sympathy on your loss. Wayne Manion

Eddie, you will be missed. Went down to my neighbor, your old buddie and friend and told him the news, Jim Moore, he said how you worked together over the years and at Bon ECHO Park ... way too young.
