Guerino "Gerry" MontaniOctober 13, 1924 ~ May 1, 2017 (age 92)
It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Gerry Montani at his home in Napanee on Monday, May 1, 2017, in his 93rd year. Loving and cherished father of Karen Dowhan and Lisa Veritis (Paul). Proud and treasured Grandpa of Courtney, Jake, Nate, and Lindsay. Brother of Iolanda (“Vi”) Connolly, special brother-in-law of the late William “Bill” Connolly. Predeceased by his parents, Vincenzo and Emma Montani, his brothers, Ado, Mario, and Umberto and his sisters, Elza Gravina (Luigi), Eva Del Guidice and Lidia Montani. Lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews as Uncle Beef. Gerry was born and raised in Hamilton and retired after 23 years at Macassa Lodge. In 1998, Gerry embarked on a new adventure in Napanee with his daughter Lisa and her husband Paul where he enjoyed fishing, living lakeside and helping to build their park. He took great pride in keeping the grounds pristine. He will be greatly missed by many friends. He enjoyed his annual trips to Cuba for over 30 years where he had made so many friends who will miss his raffles and his generosity. Our family has been blessed and are very grateful for so many wonderful years with our Dad and Grandpa. Our hearts are broken at his sudden passing. Cremation has taken place. A private grave side service at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Burlington will be held at a later date as per his wishes. In the care of Hannah Funeral Home, in Napanee (613-354-3341).
