Aevon Whalen

August 4, 1930 ~ August 1, 2021 (age 90)

It is with profound grief and a deep sense of loss that the family of Aevon share the news of his passing on Aug. 1 2021 just days shy of his 91st birthday. His wife Doris was the love of his life, his companion and his support for 69 years.  Aevon was beloved by his children, Gwen Babcock (Mike), Len (Pat McNichols), Terry (Kate Hambrook), Mae (Tim Sheffield), Trina Kelly (Brian), Clair (Michele) and Shelley Gallipeau (Ken), the strength they could always count on.  He was a much-adored Gramps to Katie, Beth (Matthew), Matthew (Ali), Jesse (Rob), Turi, Nancy, Kanako, Cora, Sef, Shea (Ryan), Jay (Courtney), Sam, Chad, Shaun (Kristie), Brent (Amelia), Maggie (Mike), Annie (Matt), Emma, Mollie, Shannon and Hannah (James). There was no prouder Great-Gramps of his great grandchildren Adan, Alyssa, Alexandra, Ford, Rhys, Lane, Mack, Bennett and Theo were blessed with his love.  He was a steadfast brother to Danny (Linda), Glen (Freda), Shirley Kearns and deeply cared for his sister-in-laws Wilma Kearns and Joan Whalen.  He was predeceased by his parents Stafford and Mary, his brothers John, Jimmy, Ford, Ronnie and Harold; brothers-in-law Clair and Francis Kearns and by his grandson Brandon. Aevon built his life around family, faith and community.  He gave countless hours to his community, the Centreville Fair, and his church, St. Anthony’s.  Aevon was responsible for helping many learn to live “one day at a time.” He leaves a legacy of love, laughter, honesty and commitment. Let it be said, “He lived a good life, deeply loved a good wife, raised a close family and always helped anyone in trouble.”  He was a devoted husband, a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and a dependable neighbour and friend. He was a good man.  The family will receive friends at the HANNAH FUNERAL HOME in Tamworth (613-379-2997) on Tuesday, August 3 from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. (Masks are mandatory) A private family mass will be held at St. Anthony’s of Padua Church in Centreville on Wednesday with interment at the St. Anthony’s Parish Cemetery.  Memorial donations made (by cheque please) to St. Anthony’s Cemetery or The John M. Parrott Centre (in recognition of their loving care) would be appreciated by the family.
