“Be the things you loved most about the people who are gone”
Proud member of UA Local 71 (United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipefitting Industry of the USA and Canada). Passed away peacefully at the Lennox and Addington County Hospital in Napanee on Sunday, January 2, 2022. Predeceased by his parents Jack Stitt and May Desjardins, his wife Frances Caldwell (nee O’Shaughnessy); his first wife Gwen Thacker, his sister Meryle (late Ishmael Pleau), his brothers Eldon (late Lillis), Merton “Bodie” (late May), William “Billy” (Emma), Gary (recently late Elaine) and Dawson (Lynn) as well as by his step children, Vicky Caldwell and Brian Caldwell (late Esther). Ellard leaves behind his son Jaimie (Sandy), daughters Gayle Caldwell and Kathy Lauzon (late Jean-Guy) as well as his sisters, Phyllis (late Bob Hayley) and Linda (Bill Piercy). Ellard will be missed by his grandchildren, great grandchildren, his many nieces, nephews, friends and nieghbours. When he was able to, Ellard would be the first to offer a helping hand. He loved company and would always welcome you with a drink and a bite to eat. He will be remembered for his teasing nature, quick wit, his well thought of pranks and his story telling (many stories about his hunting and fishing adventures). He enjoyed riding around Horseshoe Lane on his four-wheeler to “check up on things” and see who was around. Ellard took great pleasure in planning his “Pig Roast Garage Parties”, and really looked forward to hosting his Friday night Euchre parties. If Ellard had an audience, he loved to play the guitar and sing a tune or two. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Lennox and Addington Hospital, the nursing and administration staff from CBI for the fantastic care given to Ellard through the years and all the staff from Rural Frontenac Community Services. As well, all his friends and neighbours that were instrumental in helping keep Ellard at home in the house he loved for as long as possible especially when his health was failing. All the phone calls, visits, meals, cat sitting, wood box filling, rides etc. have been greatly appreciated.
