Florence Blakely

Passed away peacefully, at the Lennox and Addington County Hospital in Napanee on Saturday, September 16, 2023. Florence Evelyn Blakely of Napanee at age 99. Beloved wife of the late Walter Douglas Blakely and dear mother of Karen Mackenzie (Dale) of St. Albert, Alberta; John Blakely (Hilly) of Napanee and David Blakely (Jane) of Courtice. Beloved grandmother of ten grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren, and fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents William and Ina Goodman, her siblings Margaret Curry and Wilbur Goodman and granddaughter Krista Brown. Florence grew up on the River Road, the youngest of three. She loved horses and reading and often managed to coordinate those two pursuits.  After the war she and Doug raised their children on Simcoe Street in Napanee along with the many other families of war veterans.  Life long relationships were forged there until a broken hip forced her to move to Riverine where she resided since 2018.  Many thanks to the staff at the Lennox and Addington County Hospital for the outstanding care Florence received recently.  The family will receive friends at the Hannah Funeral Home, in Napanee at 123 Dundas Street West (613-354-3341) on Saturday, September 23 from 10 a.m., followed by service in the Chapel at 11:00 a.m. Interment Riverview Cemetery. Memorial donations made to the Lennox and Addington County Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
