Gordon (Jim) James Hutchison passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at the age of 84. Jim was born in Hamilton, Ontario on November 20, 1938, the only son of the late Gordon Edward Hutchison and Rella Elizabeth Cookman. It is with deep sorrow and much love we mourn his passing. Jim lived most of his life in Napanee, except for a few brief years in St Catharines, Ontario, where he worked as a draftsman for an engineering company. He moved back to Napanee to successfully run the Richelieu Hotel for many years until the hotel was sold. Jim followed this with another career in which he successfully started and ran Richelieu Homes Construction Company, building many homes and subdivisions in both Napanee and Florida. Jim retired in Napanee where he built his own home on River Road in which he and Mabel settled to enjoy a well earned retirement. Jim was predeceased by his beloved son Tracey (December 21, 2019) and Mabel Prue, his precious wife for over 50 years (January 18, 2023). He is survived by his sister Elizabeth (Beth) Weber of Vancouver, his daughter-in-law Kathleen Hutchison, and his two granddaughters Kyleigh and Emily Hutchison. Jim was well known in Napanee and had many good friends. He was an avid hunter, boater, car enthusiast, and skier. He loved taking road trips with Mabel and crossed Canada and the US many times, logging in thousands of miles. He was always a great host and loved nothing better than a get-together with his friends and family. He was an incredible son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Funeral Service will be held at St. Mary Magdalene Anglican Church in Napanee Friday, June 30, 2023 at 11:00 am. Interment at Riverview Cemetery, followed by reception in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations made to the Morningstar Mission would be appreciated.
