Reimer, Johanna (Fereberger, Wiehl)
Peacefully with her daughter by her side on Mother’s Day, Sunday May 10, 2020 at The John M. Parrott Centre in Napanee. Johanna Elisabeth Reimer passed away in her 101st year. Dear mother of Mimi Clancey (Bob) Centreville. Grandmother of Teresa Gibson (Edward) Kingston; Tamara VanGrunsven (Andy) Odessa and Katherine Murphy (Mark) Kemptville. Great-grandmother of William, Kevin, Caitlin and Anton Gibson, Liam, Johanna and Matthew Murphy and Jeremy VanGrunsven. Step-grandmother of Roxanne (Brent), Roberta, and Rhonda (Peter) and also survived by seven step-great-grandchildren. Johanna was a strong, determined (a nice way to say stubborn), independent, resourceful and hardworking woman. She overcame adversity, forged her own path and made the most of opportunities. Born in Czechoslovakia she had to flee her homeland at the conclusion of World War II and lived in Austria where she was employed by the American Army and the International Relief Organization. She emigrated to Canada with her daughter and mother to begin a career in the insurance industry in Toronto where she resided until failing health brought her to Napanee. The family expresses their deep appreciation for the excellent and loving care she received at the John M. Parrot Centre. A private family funeral will be held at St. Anthony’s of Padua Church in Centreville with internment at Assumption Cemetery in Mississauga. Those wishing to make a memorial donation may do so to the SPCA Lennox and Addington Branch or the St. Anthony’s Church Building Fund. In the care of Hannah Funeral Home, in Tamworth (613-379-2997).
